This edition of Contemporary Stone & Tile Design focuses on the use of stone and tile in kitchen and bath design. The tile featured on the cover is an example of the many textured products that are on the market today that can add depth and personality to a space. The 3-x 9-inch gunmetal-colored ceramic tile were handmade and feature a raised oblong pattern in the middle. The tile was supplied by Heath Ceramics of Los Angeles, CA. Minnesota-based Surfaces Group headed up the massive project to surface all of the housing units in the 2010 Winter Olympics Olympic Village. The job required more than 70,000 sq. ft. of quartz surfacing, took more than 18 months and was the largest North American Silestone project in 2009.

Essentially every manufacturer that participates in the commercial carpet market has at least one modular carpet — also known as carpet tile – product in their offering. Each of these manufacturers has discovered (sometimes painfully) that modular carpet — if it is to be successful – is not simply broadloom carpet cut into pieces but rather must be engineered literally from the floor up to be a modular product.

Maddison Associates installed CENTRIA Formawall Dimension Series and Profile Series Concept Series CS-660 wall panels in the 212,000-sf project. The panels are Cradle-to-Cradle Silver certified.
